Patient-centric approach in healthcare: The Key to Patient Satisfaction

What is patient-centrism?

Patient-centrism is an approach in healthcare that emphasizes the patient's needs, experiences, values and preferences as the main point of reference in the treatment and medical decision-making process. Characteristics of the Patient-Centrism philosophy include:

  • Individualized approach - understanding the unique needs of each patient, including their environment, culture, personal preferences, life values and specific health goals,
  • Patient Involvement - actively involving the patient (and their loved ones) in the treatment process, meaning that patients are informed, listened to and encouraged to participate in decisions about their health,
  • Communication and Relationships - building open and honest communication between the medical team and Patients, which fosters trust and a better understanding of needs,
  • Holistic approach - paying attention not only to the physical aspects of the disease, but also to the emotional, mental and social aspects,
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration - collaboration between different health specialists to provide comprehensive care that addresses the patient's diverse needs,
  • Quality and safety - focusing on providing the highest quality of care that is safe, effective, efficient and tailored to the individual patient's needs,
  • Respect and dignity - treating patients with respect and making sure their dignity is always preserved, regardless of their condition, decision or preference.

Patient-centrism is changing the traditional model of health care, shifting the focus from the doctor to the patient, leading to a more balanced and participatory relationship in the treatment process. It is an approach that is increasingly recognized as key to improving treatment outcomes and increasing patient satisfaction.

Patient-centrism: the heart of our philosophy

Since the inception of Paley European Institute, we have paid special attention to putting the Patient at the center of our activities. Every Patient is not only a recipient of medical services, but first and foremost a partner in the process of treatment and rehabilitation. That's why our activities are based on a deep-rooted patient-centrism, which is the heart and soul of our healthcare philosophy.

Instead of focusing solely on treating symptoms, at Paley European Institute we focus on a comprehensive understanding of the patient's needs and expectations. It is for this reason that we created the 360-degree project. It is a holistic approach, according to which it is important to consider all the needs of the person with a disability. We focus on early intervention and ongoing support to not only affect the Patient's health, but also to help improve quality of life and increase independence.

Holistic approach to the patient

We offer our patients interdisciplinary treatment strategies that include support from: orthopedists, neurologists, physiotherapists, psychologists, neonatologists, neurosurgeons, orthopedic technicians, gait analysis engineers, orthotists, pediatricians and neurologists. Instead of focusing solely on treating symptoms, our patient-centric model focuses on a comprehensive understanding of the patient's needs and expectations. Therefore, we also consider somatic, intellectual and emotional aspects during treatment. Through cooperation and information sharing between specialists, we can provide comprehensive assistance at the highest level.

Supporting Patients' Families and Relatives

At Paley European Institute, we understand that one family member's illness affects everyone. That's why we offer support not only to patients, but also to their loved ones, helping them understand the treatment process and how they can support their sick family member on the road to recovery.

Educating Patients and their families is an integral part of our patient-centered model. At the Paley European Institute, we organize individual education sessions and prepare tutorials focused on how to prepare for surgery so that Patients' families are fully aware of the condition, available treatment options and coping strategies. In this way, we promote patients' active and informed participation in the treatment process.

Summary

Patient-centrism at the Paley European Institute is not only a philosophy, but also the practical implementation of a model of care that puts the Patient at the center of everything we do. Following Dr. Dr. Paley's approach, we are guided by the principle that the Patient comes first. Through a holistic approach, education, commitment to innovation and continuous improvement, we provide the highest level of care.

Pediatric Orthopedics at Paley European Institute is an exemplary example of our commitment to patient-centeredness. We focus on providing young patients and their families with care that is not only medically advanced, but also sensitive to children's individual emotional and developmental needs.
