Ceremonial unveiling of the "I CAN ALL" bell
Throughout their treatment at our Institute, patients learn to perform everyday small activities. Something that for some is a simple activity, for our patients means many hours of exercise, incredible effort, and often shed tears.
"I can do anything" not infrequently, especially for children, means reaching for a cup on one's own, riding a bicycle or using the toilet without help from others. It is here that we are privileged to participate in the journey to the peak of possibility, admire the strength and will to fight, and learn tremendous patience, commitment and perseverance.
Their determination and courage in pursuing their dreams brings them to the day when they leave the rehabilitation room for the last time. This is the moment to announce to the world their joy and pride - I did_make it! It's also the moment when Patients can show those who are just beginning their adventure: I made it_m, so you can too, you too CAN ALL! This is the role of ringing the bell.
The sound of the bell that was hung today at the Paley European Institute clinic on the one hand signifies the completion of a certain stage of treatment, and on the other hand, above all, expresses the whole gamut of satisfaction and satisfaction with the results that hard and persistent work brings, and provides motivation to overcome hardships and weaknesses. We are pleased that the cooperation with Dignify Foundation and BTTP Advisors has resulted in the realization of this project.
I remember the end of my daughter's long treatment at the Paley Institute in the US. We spent many busy and often painful months there. The focus on the treatment process and supporting Jadzia was immense, and what I remember most today, and to which I return more than once, is her moment of triumph. The day the little patient finishes her rehabilitation period at the Institute was a special event. It's a day when you show the whole world how much hard work has been put in and what a long way each of these little patients has come. Each Child (adults too) on that day has one task - to walk a few meters and ring a special bell as loud as they can. The cheering of the parents, physiotherapists and doctors is what causes goosebumps, and the memories stay with us for many years.
As founder of the Dignify Foundation, my first project was to cast a personalized bell for the Paley European Institute and find such an exceptional sponsor as BTTP Advisors. The emotional support of children is just as important in the healing process as the medical or surgical intervention itself. PEI is an example of how these two aspects can coexist and work together during treatment. I am very happy that we have a place in Poland that so appreciates and supports the efforts of young patients and their Families.
