Subluxation at the hip joint in children with cerebral palsy
We would like to share with you the therapeutic challenge of hip dislocation or subluxation in children with cerebral palsy. We present to you the achievement of Drs. Michal Deszczynski and Tomasz Albrewczynski, who are the few who perform one of the most complicated procedures of the redirective osteotomy - referred to as triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO).
Doctors perform a modified technique of this method introduced several years ago by Dr. Dr. Paley. It allows a very large correction of the femoral head coverage by surgically fracturing the pelvis in 3 (!) places and mobilizing the entire acetabular mass. Such a large correction will not be achieved with any other method of pelvic osteotomy, especially the very common "Dega" or "Pemberton" type osteotomies, where the bone is cut in only one place.
