The largest family picnic in the Institute's history - Paley Family Day

The event was officially opened by Marcin Deszczynski, President of the Paley European Institute, thanking the participants for coming and emphasizing that the entire PEI team is honored that such a large number of patients make up the Paley Family and wants to maintain the established relationships.

The organizers prepared many attractions, including games and activities with animators and physiotherapists for whole families in the open air, and a concert by entertainment music star Marta Kosakowska "Marika". Despite the numerous attractions, undoubtedly the highlight of the event was the Festival of Talents, where little patients proved that disabilities and functional difficulties do not stop them from pursuing their passions, developing their talents or skills and enjoying life.

Among the performers on stage were Jakub, who was diagnosed with congenital pseudarthrosis of the left tibia, which did not stop him from gracing the event with a show of acrobatics on a scooter, as well as 4-year-old Dominik, who performed his favorite song about a karate master. There was also a recitation on stage performed by 2-year-old Peter, who was born with a missing fibula, and a display of paintings and artwork by Olive and Martina. The dream of Adrian, who daily struggles with the genetic bone disease multiple cartilage and bone outgrowths (MHE), to play Frederic Chopin's "Mazurka" for the general public also came true. Other participants presented their artwork, collection of tourist badges or knowledge of world flags. They proved that difficulties can be overcome with singing on the lips, a dance step or... on a scooter!

"Our patients are our greatest inspiration. Seeing their performances during the Talent Festival, so different and wonderful, makes us even more motivated to keep developing, to look for the best treatment techniques to be able to help them. Days like this show that nothing is impossible, and all limitations are surmountable if you have the right people around you." - emphasized Dr. J. Michal Deszczynski, Director of the Paley European Institute Medical Center.

Another interesting attraction was the so-called reverse physiotherapy, during which it was the Institute's charges who invented exercises for the physiotherapy team. There were also surprises for adults. The physiotherapists prepared a special zone where one could relax and enjoy a massage in a beautiful natural setting.

On a daily basis, PEI's team of specialists makes every effort to put the Patient at the center of their attention, so they are keen to create a space for integration, strengthening bonds and celebrating successes together. Paley Family Day is probably the only event in Poland where doctors and physiotherapists can meet with their charges outside the walls of a medical facility on such a large scale.
