How do we do it? - live at Physiopositive

The establishment of the Institute was a response to the need of patients who had very difficult and complicated cases of congenital malformations of the lower extremities. In a short period of time, the scope of the facility was expanded to include neurosurgery, as the scale of the problem was very broad.

Doctors from PEI took a look at the history of establishing common methods and a common language with a group of physical therapists, such as a rehabilitation program based on a recommendation from a doctor not to strain a specific body part.

At our Institute, within each individual case, consultations are carried out together with physiotherapists, e.g., for a patient with MPD, gait analyses are carried out using a dozen cameras. This is a very hybrid approach, one without the other makes no sense of existence. We focus on balance and homeostasis in the comprehensive care of the Patient.

The surgeries are performed so as to be able to start physiotherapy very quickly (even within a few days) and move the limbs without pain.

The specialists also told us that at PEI we treat the following degenerative conditions:

- underdevelopment of the proximal end of the femur - Dr. Paley has spent 30 years classifying these defects, and although it's one name, there are more than a dozen types, each with a separate surgical protocol;

- tibial hemimelia;

- sagittal hemimelia;

- Deformities within the foot;

- Congenital pseudarthrosis of the tibia;

- congenitally missing radius bone - the third generation of the surgical protocol was developed with our team.

At the Paley European Institute, we also provide comprehensive care for people with cerebral palsy - we perform massive hip reconstructions, after which we usually do not place plaster bandages.

The punch line and main message of the meeting was that physiotherapists should appreciate their skills and not be afraid to express their opinions. The medical community should appreciate the physiotherapy profession more.

The comments expressed the great impression that the Paley European Institute made on the physiotherapists. The audience was delighted with the Institute's performance, as confirmed by the presenter herself.

Thank you very much for the invitation and we encourage you to listen to the entire recording -

This method enables precise limb lengthening, minimizing the risk of complications and shortening recovery time compared to classic […]
