Wiktor’s story – intrauterine amputation

We present to you the story of Wiktor, who was born with his right leg missing. The intramedullary amputation occurred at the level of the lower leg, but the stump was improperly secured.

Our orthopedic surgeons, J. Michal Deszczynski and Tomasz Albrewczynski, performed on the boy a provision of the tip of the tibia with his own cartilage, which, so to speak, smooths and models the stump.

Today Wiktor is provided with a new prosthesis, which is used to equalize the length of his limbs and to teach him to walk properly.
